Stanley Tucci, recently nominated for an Academy Award for his work in The Lovely Bones, has just joined the cast of the upcoming superhero flick, Captain America. Tucci joins Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, and Tommy Lee Jones in the film.

The actor will portray Dr. Abraham Erskine, a german scientist behind Project Rebirth, the secret experiment that created the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

The film will be released on July 22, 2011
