At 1:00 AM this morning, Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan passed away after suffering from lots of heart conditions. She knew very well how to take care of her health but her body wouldn’t take in all the treatment it got. She is the third ‘Girl’ to pass away in as many years, after Estelle Getty in 2008 and Bea Arthur late last year. Betty White remains the sole survivor of the group. McClanahan was 76 years old and has battled breast cancer and laser spine surgery in the past few decades. She was been through quite a lot, recovering from surgery was probably the hardest part of her tough journey. McClanahan has appeared in other shows like Law & Order, Maude, and The Love Boat.
