In late 2009, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) mentioned he was in talks with Marvel to play Hawkeye in The Avengers movie. This is pretty much the last we have heard anything of the sort. Now, Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Renner has already officially signed on for the role. While there has not been any official confirmation on this story, it could still be purely speculation, but it would be cool to see Renner as Hawkeye. The man did give arguably the best performance of 2009 in The Hurt Locker and is set to star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film alongside Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Hawkeye is a member of The Avengers, and while he lacks superpowers, he makes up for that by being an expert archer with a keen eye and steady hand.
