Brothers & Sisters – “On the Road Again” (ABC)

Warning: SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW

Episode Title: “On the Road Again” (Season 4, Episode 24)

Original Airdate: May 16, 2010 at 10:00 PM

Synopsis: Scotty (Luke Macfarlane) and Saul (Ron Rifkin) test out their new menu on the Walkers and Kitty (Calista Flockhart) goes campaigning with her mother (Sally Field) and depressed sister (Rachel Griffiths).

Review: This episode was crammed full of everything great about the series. It would have been even better if it was a two hour episode as it was almost too full of greatness. We learn that Saul’s friend is living with AIDS, worrying Scotty and Kevin (Matthew Rhys) about getting him tested.

We also learn that Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) has taken the job offer while Justin (Dave Annable) still wants to go to Haiti. We find out they will try a trial separation. Justin is also on the inside when Robert (Rob Lowe) asks him to keep a secret key.

The episode ends when Nora has Narrow Lake drilled again, and Holly (Patricia Wettig) learns that they are sitting on lots of water. Great news…until they all end up in a car crash with a Walker dead.

The season ended on a very sad note, leaving a major cliffhanger for the audience. Robert was staring into oblivion as he lost consciousness, while Holly was also unresponsive. Kitty, Nora, Sarah, Kevin, and Scotty are fine, and see Saul as well.

Overall, this season was hit and miss up until early March. Season five needs to get the series back to season one standards, or it could be the last for the show. The creative writers still hit many high points, so it only seems plausible the series can hit stride again.

Final Grade – 10/10
