Blu-ray/DVD Reviews

Random Blu-ray Of the Week: “The Blind Side” (2009)

I apologize for the tardiness of the “Random Blu-ray” this week. It was hard to pick which film I wanted to review again out of my collection. I chose The Blind Side for many reasons. First, obviously, has to do with star Sandra Bullock. Her recent news situations have become big. Second and third, I just saw an interview from Tim McGraw the other day and saw Quinton Aaron on Mercy last week. So this film has been in my head for awhile.

For those of you who don’t know, the film is based off a true story and follows Michael Oher (Aaron) as he is adopted by the Tuohy family (Bullock and McGraw) and how he got into football. The film was a breakout success last fall, as one had real expectations for this film to do well.

The film has many comedic elements, parts that will make you cry, and great football scenes. However, this film is really not about football. It’s about family bonds and protecting those who matter the most to you. I’m not a football fan, yet I still loved the film from beginning to end.

Blu-ray wise, this film is incredible. Every detail is crisp and clear, and the football scenes make the price of the disc worth it on it’s own. There are many more special features on the Blu-ray compared to the DVD, including an interview with the real Michael Oher, Sandra Bullock and Leigh Anne Tuohy go one-on-one, and deleted scenes.

Final Grade: 9.5/10
