“Southland” renewed for third season by TNT

For fans of the critically acclaimed series Southland, breathe easy, you got your wishes. TNT reports today that they have renewed the series for a third season consisting of 10 episodes. Series stars form The O.C. star Benjamin McKenzie and Regina King (Miss Congeniality 2) along with others as a group of L.A. police offers.

Series has been called the most gritty and truthful portrayal of police officers on television. Series is executive produced by John Wells (ER, Third Watch) and has had a rough time finding a home on television. After a first run of 7 episodes on NBC, the network canceled the show before it aired this fall. TNT then picked up the series and aired the 6 from the second season that was produced. Ratings haven’t been a smash hit for the network, but has a loyal fan base.
