When the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino collaboration “Grindhouse” made its debut, the held a contest to see who could make the best faux trailer in the same sort of “grindhouse” style. In the actual film, they included Rodriguez’s ‘Machete’, Eli Roth’s ‘Thanksgiving’ (both being made into feature films), Edgar Wright’s ‘Don’t’, and Rob Zombie’s ‘Werewolf Women of the S.S.’. All trailers were over-the-top, ridiculous, and absolutely hilarious. They truly relished in the absurdity of these films that were rarely seen in the 70s and early 80s.

The winner of the aformentioned contest was a trailer by the name of “Hobo with a Shotgun”. It featured a homeless man dishing out his own brand of justice to drug dealers and other criminals by way of shotgun. The trailer has now been picked up to become a feature film with Rutger Hauer in the lead role. You may recognize Hauer from ‘Batman Begins’, the original ‘The Hitcher’, and ‘Blade Runner’. The man who originally played the “Hobo”, David Brunt, will appear in the film as a cop instead.

Here are a couple of the faux trailers I mentioned above. They may feature some graphic violence as well as profanity and some nudity/sexuality:
