“Law & Order: Los Angeles”, “SVU”, and more news

For all you fans of the Law & Order franchise, I have some great news for you. I’ll separate it into paragraphs about each series talked about. Pull out your napkins ladies and gentlemen, you are about to drool everywhere.

Reports have been circulating today that NBC has greenlit a 13-episode order of Law & Order: Los Angeles (code-named LOLA) to premiere this fall. This will be the first L&O series in the United States to not be set in New York. Across the pond, however, Law & Order: UK has become an overnight hit.

In other news, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is gold for another season, with plans to start shooting episodes of the show’s twelfth season this June and July. Stars Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay have signed one-year deals, with an option for a second. The show, however, has to cut its budget a bit.

Finally, news has been circulating that the original Law & Order is close to a renewal for its record-breaking 21st season. However, series star S. Epatha Merkerson will not be returning come fall. The only hitch to renewing the series falls with TNT, who wants cheaper syndication costs to re-air older episodes starting this fall.
