“Rules of Engagement” gets order cut for “¡ROB!” to move in

CBS has announced that veteran comedy Rules of Engagement will get its 18-episode order cut down to 13 for this television season. The series has two holdover episodes from last season, so we will be getting 15 half-hours this year.

Rules of Engagement has gotten the shaft plenty times by CBS over the years. The show has been relegated to midseason orders for seasons three and four before finally getting a full season last year (although the show moved timeslots half way through). Then, this year, CBS announced they were going to air Rules on Saturdays at 8PM. However, when How to be a Gentleman flopped in the Thursday, 8:30PM slot, Rules  found itself back on Thursdays.

The sixth season of Rules have drawn the highest numbers for the show for years, and has done well in the Thursday slot behind The Big Bang Theory. However, it appears the new sitcom ¡ROB! starring Rob Schneider will debut at 8:30 in January.

I don’t believe CBS has much faith in the new series, because in their press release it states “Rules of Engagement will return to its Thursday (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) time period later this season.”

The ironic thing is that ¡ROB! star Schneider and Rules star David Spade are lifelong friends, and it will be fun to see which show comes out the victor.

CBS GIVES FULL SEASON ORDERS TO TELEVISION’S #1 AND #2 NEW DRAMAS—”Unforgettable” AND “Person Of Interest”

 

CBS has given full season orders to the season’s top two freshman dramas—Unforgettable and Person Of Interest.

 

Unforgettable, the season’s #1 new drama in viewers, is averaging 14.00 million viewers, 4.2/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.0/08 in adults 18-49. Unforgettable has improved the Tuesday (10:00-11:00 PM) time period by +3% in both viewers and adults 18-49 and by +5% in adults 25-54 versus last season. Unforgettable wins its time period in all key ratings measures.

 

Person Of Interest, the #2 new drama in viewers, is averaging 13.97 million viewers, 4.6/11 in adults 25-54 and 3.3/08 in adults 18-49 in its Thursday (9:00-10:00 PM) time period.

 

Unforgettable stars Poppy Montgomery, Dylan Walsh, Michael Gaston, Kevin Rankin and Daya Vaidya.  Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman and Ed Redlich are executive producers for Sony Television Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.

 

Person Of Interest stars Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Taraji P. Henson and Kevin Chapman.  J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman are executive producers for Bonanza Productions Inc., in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

The Fall TV Season Thus Far…

So far for broadcast networks this television season has vastly underperformed – for both rookie shows and returning favorite. From Simon Cowell’s The X-Factor to NBC’s Prime Suspect, the only two winners so far for the frosh class have been NBC’s Whitney and FOX’s New Girl. Remember though, it still only is the first week and things could change.

You might have noticed I never mentioned CBS’s 2 Broke Girls…and that is because it aired after the humongous debut of Two and a Half Men and I think the show will fall at least 35% when it debuts in its regular Monday, 8:30 timeslot.

Shows like Glee and Law & Over: Special Victims Unit took huge dives from last season, and a few rookie shows (A Gifted Man, Charlie’s Angels) that were poised to debut strong, fell somewhat flat during their premieres. NCIS for CBS and Castle for ABC are two of the only dramas that really grew (or stayed relatively stable) compared to last year.

NBC is far behind the other networks as no show for the Peacock debuted to anything near 10 million viewers overall, and except for its comedy block on Thursdays, not many are even hitting a 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic. ABC is staying surprisingly strong with its Wednesday comedies, but still can’t match the success of CBS.

LOS ANGELES, September 22, 2011 – Katie Holmes is set to guest star on an episode of How I Met Your Mother titled “Perfect on Paper,” to be broadcast on Halloween.  Katie will play Naomi, the girl in the slutty pumpkin costume that Ted looks for every year on Halloween, as first introduced in season one.

“We’re thrilled to have Katie Holmes joining us this Halloween to play a role literally six seasons in the making,” says Craig Thomas, Co-Creator and Executive Producer of How I Met Your Mother. “Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily-named character in our show’s history: The Slutty Pumpkin.”

Best known for her role on “Dawson’s Creek,” Katie Holmes has appeared in numerous television series and feature films including “The Kennedys,” “Eli Stone,” “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” and “Mad Money.”

How I Met Your Mother stars Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan and airs Mondays (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Information on “Two and a Half Men” season premiere

It seems like there have been some rumblings on the top secret season premiere of the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. Deadline reports that Charlie Harper will indeed be dead and that many (or all) of his ex-girlfriends will be in attendance of his funeral. This will leave no chance for Charlie Sheen to return to the series, even if he apologizes in the future.

The season nine premiere will be a two-parter, with production beginning later this week. If the premiere starts as strong as CBS hopes, this could help the series last for a few more seasons.

The big question is what will happen to the Malibu home? Alan and Jake (Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones) will need a place to live, and with Alan being the penny pincher he is, probably won’t buy the house for himself. Apparently Chuck Lorre is really looking to make the premiere big by bringing in many stars from his previous shows to tour the home and make a bid on it. This will include Ashton Kutcher, and with this new news information, it could be assumed he is playing a “fictional’ version of himself.

Whatever happens, the stars of the show have had to sign a non-disclosure agreement so most of the details will still be mum until the premiere in September. Feel free to take a guess on what will happen. Tell us your opinions on Two and a Half Men!
